Case: Murder in The Vatican

Location: Vatican City, Italy

Date of Incident: Fri 18 April 2025

Hi Detective,

Background:

We've been hired to look into the ongoing police investigation on the death of Sister Irene Torres. I wanted to brief you on what we know so far.

Sister Irene was Pope Benedict’s closest advisor. Her murder is the highest profile case that has ever involved the Vatican.

Understanding the internal dynamics of the Vatican is no easy task. To assist you in this, you have been provided with an information booklet. Beware that Vatican politics are complicated. The information booklet only scratches the surface of the many secret alliances and backroom discussions that are constantly going on behind closed papal doors.

Your Mission:

We have identified a list of 7 possible suspects: Cardinal Robert Attard, Giorgio Corsi, Pope Benedict XIX, Nadia Al-Karim, Francois Odier, Virginia Faenzi, and Diego Raffiolo.

  • Start by collecting as much information as possible about these 7 suspects and the deceased.

  • Next, determine potential motives and opportunities for each suspect, by seeking evidence of jealousy, conflicts, or disputes that may have created a motive for the crime.

  • Then identify their whereabouts and activities at the date and time of the death.

  • To finally solve the case, access to Sister Torres' smartphone will be crucial. Dig through the evidence to find clues to what the passcode to her phone might be. Gain access to the phone by entering the passcode into the online portal. Review her communications, browsing history, and recent activities to look for evidence incriminating any one of the suspects.

Identify The Killer:

Based on the evidence gathered, identify the most likely suspect and build a compelling case against them. Enter the name of the identified suspect on the online portal, and your reasons for suspecting them, to find out if it's correct.

Your dedication and thoroughness in conducting this investigation are paramount.

Good luck!

- MMC Boss
